The first post:
This is the inaugural blog post on the Real Be Yourself blog. I figure this is a good time to get some stuff out of the way for the 4 people, 1 alien and 1 very intelligent poodle who will read this.
Technically, I (Madde Gee AKA The REAL Be Yourself) am a genuinely educated writer. There's more about it on the About page but I do have a degree in English from a legit school. People pay me to write blog posts about animals and I work hard to write those posts well. For my clients, I strive to write in standard American English (UK optional) and use correct spelling, appropriate language and write informative articles about pets, livestock and wildlife.
Now, enough of that professional nonsense! I can do it and I even love it at the right time, but on this blog I want to BE MYSELF.
HERE, I want to tell you guys my thoughts, my many silly stories, discuss my projects and hobbies, talk about my real fears and living with mental illness and I hope it will also help someone else out there. Maybe the funny stuff will just make someone laugh when they need a laugh. Maybe some of my stories will bug people but get a conversation going or be really gross so you can put links to them on your enemies pages. Maybe some of you will identify with my struggles with mental illness. Maybe you can just laugh at the lighter side and that will still be good.
When I'm just writing as me, here's your next heads up: I don't even TRY to write all professional and grammaticalicious. I do try to write things that people will be able to read and understand because that's what language is all about - communication! I tend to do dumb shit like cuss, write really long sentences (or put things in parentheses as side notes) or use way too many hyphens - they are just handy - no comma decisions. I hope you'll still enjoy reading and if not, that's okay, there are other bloggers out there I'm sure you'll like and I support bloggers!
Ok, that's it. Except this. (I do this shit too, so be prepared.) Since I have been meaning to start this blog for ages, I don't know if I'll write 10 blog posts a day for a while and then drop off to some reasonable number or what. Maybe I'll eventually strive for once a week and really it'll be rare. We'll find out together! I think I will start strong anyway!
That's it now. Except this: I LOVE to give stuff away if I can, even when I'm broke. I just enjoy making people happy. It might be something silly or it might be cash/gift cards or whatever I can do at the time. It might be some of my home-made jewelry. Whatever it is, expect giveaways and expect contests! Love 'em. If you want to help fun my giveaway pot so I can do more, I will sincerely put every dime donated for that reason into a pot to make someone else happy with an act of kindess. Contact me if you need my PayPal info and I'll get a button up soon! I also have Amazon affiliate links up on the blog to help support giveaways and costs, so I appreciate any sales on those!
Ok, that's really it. Next post? No sooner than 5 minutes. No further away than a day. I think. Comments welcome! Love ya!

Most of the good stuff about Maddie "Be Yourself" Gee is on the About page, but that page got out of hand. Don't go there. Maddie is an animal expert, a crazy person, and a writer. Full Disclosure - this blog does have Amazon affiliate links in it for products that Maddie likes. Your use of the Amazon links is greatly appreciated, but the intent is just to help keep things running and offer giveaways. You are welcome to search for the items elsewhere if you prefer it.

Legal and other weird disclosures that people want us to make: This is a condensed version. If you really want to read the long version, see it on the About page. This is a personal blog owned by Maddie. Other people sometimes author guest posts or other content. No one gets paid a salary to work on this. It costs us something to run it since prizes are given away (and we get rare donations but we usually pay for the prizes ourselves) and we spend time and cash on creation. We are not paid directly for the reviews themselves, we do it because we want to comment. So, to complete this goofy disclosure statement, we have a material connection with most or all of what we talk about because that's just how our lives work and how we made this blog. Amazon would like us to state: "We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites." We collect email address through newsletter signups and book giveaways but we do not collect any other data when you just visit this site. If email addresses are collected, you can opt-out at that time on signups for our newsletters, if you opt-in you can unsubscribe anytime. Thanks!
